Sound Studies

The Sound Studies series answers the call of French thinker Jacques Attali, who asserted that the world “was created not for contemplation, but for listening”. The series aims to acquaint readers with the young and rapidly developing field of sound studies, which seeks to reveal the incredible diversity of the auditory world. The focus of the Sound Studies is on the philosophical and anthropological studies of sound and sound culture, as well as the sociopolitical analysis of music through the prism of critical theory and cultural studies.
